DUNNELL - A funeral service for John C. Engstrom, 66, of rural Dunnell, Minn., will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Dunnell, with Pastor Nancy Isaacson officiating. Burial will be in Lake Belt Cemetery, rural Ceylon, Minn.
John was called to his eternal rest Wednesday morning, Sept. 18, 2013, at his rural farm home in Dunnell. Visitation and a time of sharing memories with the Engstrom family will be 4-6 p.m. Saturday at Kramer Family Funeral Home, Sherburn, and one hour prior to services Sunday at the church.

John Charles Engstrom was born Nov. 1, 1946, in Fairmont, Minn., to Albert and Verna (Schley) Engstrom. He was baptized and later confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dunnell. John attended Sherburn-Dunnell High School, District #456, later graduating with the class of 1964. He then served in the National Guard based out of Fairmont and Jackson. On Nov. 29, 1969, he was united in marriage to Marie Timmerman at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. After their marriage, John farmed and raised livestock his entire life in Lake Fremont Township and enjoyed working on the farm with his wife and children. He was also employed seasonally at Stokley-Van Camp Company in Fairmont. John operated the township grader for nearly 30 years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where at one time he served on the church council and was active in his church. John enjoyed fishing up north and traveling with his family.
Survivors include: his wife, Marie Engstrom of rural Dunnell, Minn.; his children, daughters, Tana (Daniel) Kaiser of Plano, Texas, Tara (Todd) Shover of Sherburn, Minn., and son, Tad (Alicia) Engstrom of rural Dunnell, Minn.; four grandchildren, Isaak Engstrom, Dillon and Logan Kaiser and Carter Shover; brother, Gerald (Joan) Engstrom of St. James, Minn.; sisters, Janice Munt of Rush City, Minn., and Velma Schaal of Fairmont, Minn.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Diane (Randy) Wink of rural Trimont, Minn., Adele (Gregory) Kaufman of rural Truman, Minn., and Nyla (Roger) Goossen of St. James, Minn.; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Engstrom; brothers-in-law, William Munt and Kenneth Schaal; sister-in-law, Helen Engstrom; niece, Deanna Engstrom; father and mother-in-law, Robert "Bud" and Evelyn Timmerman; and other relatives.
