WELCOME - A Celebration of Life service for Roland L. Philipp, 76, of rural Welcome, Minn., will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at Heritage Acres Chapel, Fairmont, with Rev. Stephanie Christoffels and Russ Steele officiating.

Burial will be in Emmanuel Cemetery of Fox Lake Township, rural Welcome, Minn.

Roland was called to his eternal rest Tuesday morning, Sept. 17, 2013, at his home in rural Welcome. Visitation and a time of sharing memories with the Philipp family will be held 4:30-7 p.m. Friday at Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont.

Roland Leon Philipp was born June 27, 1937, on the farm place he has always lived in rural Welcome, Minn., to Hervey and Freeda (Ahlgrim) Philipp. He received his education in country school and later graduated from Welcome High School in 1955. Roland married Mary Ann Steen on Oct. 4, 1958, in Trimont, Minn. Together, they farmed and raised three children, Marlys, Larry and Paul. Roland was a member of Emmanuel Country Church, then Trimont Methodist Church. Roland was on the board of Fox Lake Township. Those left to honor Roland's memory are his wife, MaryAnn Philipp of rural Welcome, Minn.; daughter, Marlys (Terry) Johnson of Lakeville; two sons, Larry (Deb) Philipp of rural Welcome and Paul (Darla) Philipp of Fairmont; six grandchildren, Cole (Kirstin) Johnson, of New Zealand, Cara Johnson of Colorado, Amanda, and Austin Philipp of Fairmont, Kally and Kevin Philipp, both of rural Welcome; sister, Rubye Klay of Rapid City, S.D.; brother, Marvin Philipp of Worthington; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Roland was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Loren and Lester Philipp; and other relatives.

Roland's family prefers memorials be made to Heritage Acres Chapel in Fairmont or to the Emmanuel Cemetery of Fox Lake Township.
