Confusion leads to theft

September 10, 2013
Fairmont Sentinel

To the Editor:

Unfortunately, a few people in the community are confused about the purpose of the Fairmont Community Gardens. The gardens are private, located in a community space. There is no public harvesting.

This ignorant confusion has led to disappointment, frustration and people being downright mad. After toiling all summer to plant, weed and water their space, someone has stolen the reward. Do not steal from someone else's garden.

This year, there are 85 families that have made a commitment to manage a garden space and have done a wonderful job. If you would like a free space to raise your own garden, contact the Rural Advantage office next spring for a space. Thank you.
