Joyce Melinda Everding was born Dec. 5, 1926, in rural Buffalo Center, Iowa, the daughter of Andrew and Hattie (Terbeek) Everding. Joyce attended Armstrong Public School in Iowa. She graduated from Iowa School of Cosmetology in Des Moines, Iowa. She owned a successful beauty salon in Estherville.

In 1953, Joyce married Lyman Fox and moved to International Falls where Lyman was an accountant for International Paper. After their first child was born, they moved to Trimont, where she worked side by side with her husband on the family farm. Joyce also managed their large poultry and egg operation. In 1975, they sold the farm and moved to Akin, Minn., where they purchased and operated a fishing resort on Hanging Kettle Lake. In 1982, after her husband passed away, Joyce then moved to Fairmont Minn., and has resided there since. Along with being a skilled homemaker, cook, devoted wife and mother, Joyce was active at Grace Lutheran Church, where she led the funeral committee for many years. She played Bridge weekly, loved to travel and entertain, and volunteered at the Fairmont Hospital Coffee/gift shop. She also enjoyed and mastered the art of porcelain china painting. Her greatest joy was spending time with her daughter and twin sons along with her eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Left to cherish Joyce's memory are her children, Steven (Jane) Fox and their daughters, Kelly and Sarah of Prior Lake Minn., and Stuart (Michele) Fox and their daughters, Alex (Tom) Quill, Bailey, and Olivia Fox of Seattle Wash; grandson, Patrick (Holly) Olson with three great-grandchildren of Glenwood City, Wis.; granddaughter, Lisa (David) Sands with two great-grandchildren of Toronto, Canada.

Preceding Joyce in death are her parents, Andrew and Hattie Everding; husband, Lyman Fox; one daughter, Debbie Olson; son-in law, Les Olson; one grandson, Joe Olson; and daughter-in-law, Julie Fox.
