FAIRMONT - Compact driver Nate Coopman not only proved to be one of three double-winners during Friday night's action at Fairmont Raceway, but the Mankato racer also extended his lead in the seasonal points race.

Coopman steered his way to top honors in the class' only heat race by crossing the finish line ahead of Jackson's Blaney Markman.

Coopman then captured the feature race by earning the checkered flag ahead of Delavan's Duwayne Berndt. Coopman holds a 25-point lead over Granada's Colby Lyons, who placed fifth in the main event.

Armstrong's Eric Dailey and Reading's Justin Luinenburg also generated double wins during racing action on Friday night.

Dailey beat Fairmont's Travis DeBoer to the wire in the modified division's opening heat race before netting the checkered flag ahead of Lewisville's Justin Anderson in the feature. Anderson joined Lakefield's Jeffrey Larson as the class' other two heat winners.

Fairmont's Roger Nielson placed third in the main event to hold a 3-point edge over Fairmont's Josh Meyer in the modified points standings.

In the hobby stock competition, Luinenburg raced his way to a first-place finish in Heat 1, beating Alden's Tyler Ignaszewski to the wire.

Luinenburg then placed ahead of Welcome's Jeff Senne in the feature race. Senne trails points leader Jeremy Wegner of Graettinger, Iowa, by seven points. Wegner netted fourth in the main event after capturing the second heat race.

In the sports mod division, Granada's Dustin Philipp pocketed top honors, with Fairmont's Dustin Wiederhoeft netting second overall.

Joey Lium of Burt, Iowa; Glencoe's John Albrecht and Fairmont's Carter Shumski each generated wins during the class' heat races, respectively.

Swea City's Matthew Looft, who holds a 33-point lead over Fairmont's Kyle Steuber in the sports mod's points race, placed 12th in the main event. Steuber finished fourth overall on the night.

Worthington's Dustin Larson maintained his seven-point lead in the stock car seasonal standings by earning a win in the feature race over Jackson's Luke Sathoff. Sathoff, who joined Granada's Derek Green in the heat race winner's circle, placed second in the main event.
