FAIRMONT - Funeral services for Junice Hamre, 92, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Burial will be following the service in Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont.

Junice passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Funeral Home, Fairmont and will continue one hour prior to the time of service on Saturday.

Lakeview Funeral Home of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Junice (Thordson) Hamre was born July 23, 1920, in Hanska, Minn., the daughter of Thomas and Bertha Thordson. She received her education from Hanska and New Ulm Schools. On March 23, 1940, Junice was united in marriage to Chris Hamre at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. Together, the couple made their home in Manilla, Iowa, and Harlan, Iowa, before moving to Fairmont in 1954. To this union, six children were born:?Gene, Larry, Betty, Mark, Jamie and David. After moving to Fairmont, Junice and Chris worked together to build Chris' Candy Company, which they owned and operated for many years. In her free time, Junice enjoyed working on her collections of spoons, thimbles and Norwegian Heritage Keepsakes. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church and served on the Altar Guild and Wedding Committee. Junice was also a member of the Women's Auxiliary for the VFW and American Legion.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Larry Hamre and his wife, Judy, of Eau Clare, Wis., Betty Jorgenson and her husband, Dale, of Long Beach, Calif., Jamie Hamre and his wife, Patricia, of Sugarland, Texas, and David Hamre and his wife, Pam, of Winona, Minn.; grandchildren, Erica Jorgenson, Katherine Hamre, Greg Hamre, Ryan Hamre, Alison Hamre, Jenna Hamre and Lori Hamre; daughter-in-law, Sue Hamre of Cave Creek, Ariz.; brother, John Thordson; sisters, Muriel Sackrison, Betty Lou Hill, and Nina Witt; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, and the wonderful staff of Goldfinch Senior Living.

Junice was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Bertha Thordson; husband, Chris Hamre; sons, Gene Hamre and Mark Hamre; six brothers, Joe Thordson, Melvin Thordson, Raymond Thordson, Byron Thordson, Louis Thordson and Frank Thordson; and one sister, Francis Imsdahl.
