To the Editor:
As some of you know, ITC Midwest LLC is planning a transmission line project across Jackson, Martin and Faribault counties. It plans to build 75 miles of new transmission line and expand the existing Lakefield station, among other things.
Before the project can be built, the state Public Utilities Commission must approve a certificate of need and route permit.
The state Department of Commerce will hold meetings throughout our area regarding this project.
If you are interested in this proposal, or if your land may be impacted because of it, we urge you to attend one of the following meetings:
o Fairmont: 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. July 16, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 920 E. 10th St.
o Jackson: 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. July 17 at Minnesota West Community and Technical College, 401 West St.
o Blue Earth: 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. July 18 at Hamilton Hall, 209 S. Main St.
In all likelihood, this will be your last opportunity to speak up on this proposal. While you should know that this project is moving forward, your voice could help change how it is going to happen.
We strongly encourage you to attend one of the meetings to voice your opinions and share you concerns. If you have any questions, please feel free to call us. Rep. Bob Gunther can be reached at (507)?236-4522, and Sen. Julie Rosen can be reached at (507) 236-0776.
