ALDEN - Defending Class A state champion Cordell Weber fired a 4-over par 76 to earn medalist honors in guiding the Martin County West Mavericks to the Valley Conference boys golf championship on Thursday in Alden.
Weber connected for a meet-leading 10 pars on the Oakview Golf Course to complement birdies on the par-4 No. 3 hole and the par-4 No. 7 to produce a first-place individual total of 36-40.
Weber's 18-hole round of 76, along with Conner Anderson's first-team all-conference total of 43-47-90 and Tyson Crosby's all-league mark of 45-47-92 paced the Mavericks' six-shot margin of victory over runner-up Madelia, 356-362. Anderson finished fifth overall, while Crosby placed sixth.
Jacob Buntjer carded a 50-48-98 to take 12th overall to net second-team all-league honors in completing MCW's counting marks.
Hunter Olson chipped in a 51-49-100 to claim second-team accolades for the Mavericks, while teammate Hunter Scofield was tabbed honorable mention for firing a 48-57-105.
Michael Dallager fired a 46-47-93 to earn a tie for seventh place with Madelia's Tate Myers and capture first-team all-Valley honors in leading the Granada-Huntley-East Chain Mustangs to a third-place team total of 405.
Logan Pytleski penciled in back-to-back 48s en route to a 10th-place score of 96 to pocket first-team all-league honors for GHEC, while teammate Anthony True tallied a 49-50-99 to place 13th overall to receive second-team accolades.
Tyler Mathiason shot a 56-61-117 to complete the Mustangs' counting marks.
Eian Denton chipped in a 69-54-123 for GHEC, while Chris Crissinger contributed a 76-63-139 to the team's effort.
In the girls' competition, Jamie Dunham was the only golfer to eclipse the century mark - 49-50-99 - to capture medalist honors in steering the Alden-Conger Knights to a first-place team score of 451 - 42 strokes better than runner Martin County West (493).
Kelci Russenberger finished fourth overall by carding a 51-59-110 to earn all-Valley honors in topping the Mavericks' scoring charts, while Morgan Larson collected second-team honors by firing a 58-68-126 to merit a tie for 11th overall.
Jennifer Peterson, KaLeigh Russenberger and Taylor DeVary all claimed second-team accolades to complete MCW's performance. Peterson penciled in a 67-60-127, KaLeigh Russenberger tallied a 62-68-130, while DeVary chipped in a 62-70-132.
Martin County West and the Granada-Huntley-East Chain boys team compete in the Section 2A, South Sub-Section Meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Rose Lake Golf Course in Fairmont.
