Arlene B. (Borkenhagen) Green was born Jan. 31, 1924, in Martin County, Minn., the daughter of Gustav and Mathilda (Salfisberg) Borkenhagen. As a young girl, Arlene received her education at local schools and is a high school graduate. In November 1943, Arlene was united in marriage to James E. Kruse. Together the couple made their home in Fairmont, Minn. After just 14 years of marriage, James passed away. Arlene would later be united in marriage to Karl Moore 1958 (divorced) and then Russell Warren in Dec. 1961, in Minneapolis, Minn. Following his passing, Arlene would be blessed to find love once more, as she was united in marriage to James Green in March 1983. Arlene would make her home in Minneapolis, Grand Rapids, Le Sueur, and finally Falls Church, Va., where she lived until her death. In her working years, Arlene worked as a secretary and an accountant and also was a motel owner/operator. In her spare time, Arlene enjoyed traveling and working on crossword puzzles. She cherished time spent with family and friends; however, her one true love was collecting bells. Through the years, she collected over 2,000 bells and even served as President of the American Bell Association. Arlene was proud of her nickname "The Bell Lady." She lived life to the fullest and was very grateful for the three wonderful husbands whom she shared her life with.

Arlene will be greatly missed by those who loved her and called her friend. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Karen Cameron of San Bruno, Calif., Greg Kruse and his wife, Mary Morehouse of Apple Valley Minn., and Meg Maguire and her husband, Dale Ostrander of Washington, D.C.; grandchildren, James Kruse, Anne-Marie Ericson, Jay Maguire, Andrea Morehouse, and Bryan Morehouse; great-grandchildren, Aetreus Kendall, Annika Ericson, Rindy Kruse, Jack and Reeve Maguire; one brother, Marvin Borkenhagen and his wife, Dorothy of Fairmont, Minn.; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
