BLUE EARTH - Two people arrested in February on charges related to multiple thefts in the area appeared in court this week.
Tessa Anderson, 28, of Winnebago pleaded guilty to charges of felony drug possession, a misdemeanor charge of fleeing an officer on foot, and a gross misdemeanor on a child endangerment charge, stemming from a pipe that tested positive for methamphetamine and for marijuana, said LaMar Piper, a Faribault County prosecutor.
A felony probation agent will conduct a pre-sentence investigation, he added.
Anderson is being held in the Faribault County Jail. According to her plea agreement, she will enter in-patient treatment as soon as a position opens up. She has also agreed to apply to Adult Drug Court based in Faribault, Martin and Jackson counties and to successfully complete the program.
If she does not fulfill the terms of her plea agreement, she could be taken back to jail, Piper said.
Also appearing in court was Chase James, 27, of Winnebago.
Piper said the judge is in the process of deciding what evidence will be admissible in James' case. His next court date is 1:30 p.m. June 10.
When James was arrested, he was charged with making terroristic threats against a police officer, receiving stolen property and fifth-degree drug possession. He also was charged with child endangerment for allowing an infant to be present around a meth pipe.
Anderson and James were arrested along with Cody Diaz, 24, Anthony Diaz Sr. and Anthony Diaz Jr., all of Winnebago, in February after Cody Diaz was stopped for speeding and Blue Earth officers noticed items in his car suspected of being stolen from area businesses.
Cody Diaz was charged with fleeing an officer, DWI, fifth-degree possession of drugs and second-degree burglary.
Anthony Diaz Jr. and Anthony Diaz Sr. were charged with receiving stolen property and fifth-degree drug possession. Anthony Diaz Jr. has a jury trial set for Aug. 16.
Ashley Nichols, 21, of Winnebago was charged later with two felony counts of second-degree burglary and theft of movable property.
