VENTURA, Iowa - A memorial mass for Stillman Francis Wickert, 81, of Ventura will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1001 9th Avenue South, Clear Lake, Iowa, with the Reverend John Gossman as celebrant. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Stillman passed away peacefully with his family by his bedside on Friday, March 1, 2013. Should friends desire, memorials may be left to Hospice of North Iowa.

He was born on Dec. 28, 1931, in Lebanan, S.D., the son of John and Sylvia Wickert. For the past 22 years he has resided with his wife, Cynthia, in the Clear Lake, Iowa, area. Stillman was well known for his keen sense of humor and quick wit. While his life-long occupation was selling insurance, in his youth he was a talented musician and played with a variety of big swing bands in southern Minnesota and northern Iowa. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working and spending time with his family.
Stillman is survived by his wife, Cynthia Wickert of Ventura; daughter, Shelley Nelson, of Faribault, Minn., son, Jon Wickert of Fairmont, Minn., daughter, Julie and husband, Del Spronk of Faribault, Minn., and son, Mark Wickert of Faribault, Minn.; stepchildren, Brian Vaage of Ventura and Martin Vaage of Savage, Minn.
