FAIRMONT - A spirited fundraiser will be held for Interlaken Heritage Days on Thursday evening, with a wine and beer tasting at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Fairmont.
"We did a wine tasting a couple of years ago, and it was very successful," said Bonnie Taplin, chairman of the Interlaken Heritage Days committee. "As a small committee, it's easy to do and we get a lot of cooperation."
The upcoming fundraiser has expanded from the original event, adding beer distributors along with the wine tasting.
"We wanted to incorporate it for couples," Taplin said. "We know there's men who don't drink wine."
There will be two beer distributors and seven wine distributors. Other changes include hosting the event at the Knights of Columbus Hall to accomodate a larger crowd and bringing in blues musician Papa John Kolstad from the Twin Cities.
"We know there are a lot of people in Fairmont who like blues music, so we're excited about that," Taplin said.
There will also be hors d'oervres and non-alcoholic beverages available.
The event is from 5:30-8 p.m. Tickets are available in advance at Hy-Vee, D&S Trophies, Hair Etc., Fairmont Municipal Liquor Store and the Fairmont Chamber for $20, or for $25 at the door.
All proceeds will go toward this summer's Interlaken Heritage Days festival.
