ADRIAN - The Class AA, No. 8-ranked and Section 3AA South Sub-Section's No. 1-seeded Adrian Area Dragons downed the No. 4-seeded Fairmont/Martin County West Red Bulls, 64-6, during sectional team quarterfinal wrestling action on Tuesday night in Adrian.
Adrian Area advances to wrestle against the No. 3-seeded Worthington Trojans in the sectional team semifinals at 6 p.m. Friday night in Slayton.
Fairmont/Martin County West finished its season with a 6-8 overall record.
Class AA, No. 1-ranked 106-pounder Trevor Schultz claimed one of the Red Bulls' two victories in the dual meet against the Dragons, defeating Logan Nelson via a 7-1 decision in the 120-pound match.
Class AA, No. 8-ranked 152-pounder Joe Weber claimed the other victory for the Red Bulls by downing Justin Elias via a 7-1 decision at 160.
Class AA, No. 4-ranked 120-pounder Jayden Bullerman of Adrian Area earned a 3-0 decision over Elijah Gronewold during 126-pound action.
The Dragons' Tony Lynn followed with a pin of Levi Bulfer at 132. Lynn, the Class AA, No. 8-ranked 126-pounder, put Bulfer's shoulders to the mat at 1:03.
In sectional quarterfinal dual meet on Tuesday night, the Red Bulls handed Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westbrook-Walnut Grove a 60-10 loss to advance to face Adrian.
The Red Bulls opened the match by grabbing a 21-0 lead.
Collin Steuber pinned Daulton Carlson at 106 in 4:49 before Chris Ettesvold pinned Nash Mayer in 3:28 in the 113-pound match.
Schultz pinned Devin Skalak at 3:18 at 120 for his first win of the night and Gronewold followed with a 13-9 decision over Logan Axford at 126.
Remington Kuehl and Tanner Lange each earned pins, defeating Kyle Gilbertson and River Zvorak in 50 seconds and 2:34 in the 138- and 152-pound matches, respectively.
Weber took a 9-3 win over Austin Peterson at 160 before Nathan Gillis pinned Cole Olson in 58 seconds in the 182-pound match.
Kory Brown collected a win by pinning Jake Peterson in 1:45 at 195, while the Red Bulls' Tyler Allen pinned Brandon Balsavage at 1:45 in the 285-pound match.
FHS/MCW's Luis Figueroa received a forfeit at 220.
The Fairmont/Martin County West wrestlers return to action in the Section 3AA Individual Meet at 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22, in Redwood Falls.
