FARIBAULT - Junior all-arounder Rebecca Steen finished with 8.4s on both the balance beam and uneven parallel bars, along with an 8.3 on the floor exercise and an 8.0 on vault, to generate a 33.1 score to pace the Martin County Area Magic gymnasts at the Faribault Invitational on Saturday in Faribault.
Martin County Area generated 126.25 points to place 13th during the 16-team invitational. Northfield posted a 147.425 to capture first-place team honors.
Maggie Bachenberg finished with an 8.35 on vault, a 7.75 on beam and a 7.95 on floor to add scoring punch for the Magic, while teammate Mackenzie Betts topped the team with an 8.6 on vault. Betts also scored a 7.1 on beam.
Martha Olson vaulted to a total of 8.4 for Martin County Area, while adding a 7.9 on the floor.
Sydney Leichtnam netted an 8.1 on vault and 7.2 on the unevens for the Magic.
Lexy Ringnell contributed an 8.05 on floor and a 6.7 on unevens, while Martin County Area teammate Brooklyn Leichtnam chipped in a 7.0 on beam during her seasonal debut.
Leichtnam missed the early stages of the season due to an injury.
Kersten Shantz tallied a 7.3 on the floor for the Magic, Jenna Steele supplied a 7.25 on the beam, Michaela Twitchell chipped in a 7.4 on the unevens, while Andrea Thate added a 7.1 on the bars.
Martin County Area plays host to Worthington at 7 p.m. Tuesday night in Welcome.
