FAIRMONT - Brooke Lemon scored a natural hat trick and assisted on another goal to lead the Fairmont Area Cardinal girls hockey team to a 4-1 nonconference victory over the Windom Area Eagles on Friday night at Martin County Arena in Fairmont.

Lemon netted the first of her three goals 2 minutes and 33 seconds into the game to give the Cardinals an early 1-0 lead.

Eagle forwards Kalee Rosekranz and Jolyssa Higley-Purrington both picked up the puck in the neutral zone and created odd-man rushes.

Fairmont Area netminder Miranda O'Connor turned away both shots and kept the Eagles scoreless the rest of the period.

"Our goaltending was good tonight," said Kuhl. "She did a good job of only allowing one goal and they had some tough shots."

Lemon passed the puck out to Wilson in the slot from behind the Eagles' net on a power play. Wilson sent a pass back to Lemon along the net, and was credited with an assist when Lemon slid the puck just inside the pipe for the wrap-around goal to seal the 4-1 victory.
