FULDA - Lillian Emma Baumhoefner, the daughter of Henry and Emma (Nehls) Kahler, was born Feb. 25, 1918, near Welcome, Minn. She grew up on the farm and attended country schools and graduated from Welcome High School in 1935. Lillian was united in marriage to Oscar Baumhoefner on Dec. 4, 1938, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome, Minn. After their marriage, they farmed near Truman, Minn., and Fairmont, Minn., before moving to a farm near Reading, Minn., in March 1951. In December 1980, they moved into Reading. Oscar passed away in July of 1981. Lillian moved to the Homestead Cooperative Apartments, Worthington, in September 1996. In August 2004, she moved to the Golden Horizons Assisted Living in Worthington. Lillian entered Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda, Minn., in September 2012. Lillian passed away at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D., on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at the age of 94. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church rural Fulda, Minn.
Survivors include her three children, Laurelene (Leland) Hardekopf of Slayton, Minn., Ronald "Buzz" (Wanda) Baumhoefner of Reading, Minn., and Arlen "Skip" (Cheryl) Baumhoefner of Mounds View, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Clarence Kahler; and sister, Violet Kahler.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Fulda, Minn., with Rev. Rachel Wren and Rev. Amy Swenson officiating.
The pallbearers are Mike Arens, Mike Hardekopf, Bob Hardekopf, Bill Hardekopf, David Baumhoefner, Dan Baumhoefner and Joe Turbes. Interment at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery rural Fulda, Minn.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda, Minn., and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
