Ann Louise Burkhardt was born Sept. 3, 1961, to Warren "Buddy" and Marion (Wolf) Burkhardt in rural Trimont, Minn. On Aug. 4, 1984, she was united in marriage to Kevin Hilgendorf at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Galena Township, rural Ormsby, Minn. Into this marriage were born two daughters, Tanna and Darby. Ann spent 51 years here on earth encouraging, caring for and loving others and quietly slipped into the arms of Jesus on Nov. 17, 2012.

Ann's gift of compassion and caring gave her the opportunity to work with special needs preschoolers in the Fairmont Area school district for 25 years. She loved this dearly, and the children in heaven are lucky to have her. Ann also taught us many things in her five-year battle with cancer. She seldom complained and went through it all with few side effects. It NEVER destroyed her sense of humor and nobody did bald better than her. Family was truly important to Ann and there are many memories to cherish. Being a wife and mother was a fulfilment of her life's dreams. Ann lived for laying out, hated winters, liked reading, Craigslisting, going to Fox Lake Ballroom, watching Days of Our Lives, going "Up North" and to Big Twin, going to Bergen and watching Hallmark movies and commercials. She truly was the organizer of the family and always joked about her OCD. She loved to see the vacuum tracks in the carpet and was president of the "List Makers Club." Although she will be missed dearly, Ann wouldn't want us to have any regrets as she lived life to the fullest.

Ann's memory will be forever cherished by her husband of 28 years, Kevin; daughters, Tanna and Darby; mother, Marion Burkhardt; siblings, Jean Burkhardt, Paul (Deb) Burkhardt, Dale (Jane) Burkhardt and Jim Burkhardt; godson, Guy (Missy) Hilgendorf; nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; cousins; in-laws; her dear "Up North" family; and many, many friends.

Ann is celebrating in heaven with her dad, Buddy Burkhardt; aunts, Kay McKintosh and Ardella Schroeder; dear friends, Bobbi Bronson and Justine Reger; and other friends and relatives.

Ann readily shared her dislike for flowers, so in her honor the family requests that memorials be given to: United Hands Hospice in Blue Earth, Minn., and A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation in Chanhassen, Minn.
