LEDYARD, Iowa - A funeral service for Alice Kramersmeier, 97, will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bethany E. & R. Church, Ledyard, with Reverend Tim Diehl and Reverend Victor Vriesen officiating. Burial will be in Highland Home Cemetery, Ledyard.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today (Friday) at Bethany E. & R. Church, Ledyard, and will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Alice May Kra-mersmeier was born May 20, 1915, in Buffalo Center, daughter of Sam and Caroline (Steinberg) Weaver. She grew up in the Ledyard area and graduated from Ledyard High School. Prior to her marriage, she did domestic work and worked in a restaurant.

Alice was united in marriage to John August Kramersmeier on Feb. 21, 1936, in Fairmont, Minn. They farmed near Ledyard retiring in 1969. Alice lived in rural Ledyard her entire life until moving to Goldfinch Senior Living in Fairmont in 2007.

Alice enjoyed craftwork, fishing, reading, and she also enjoyed her many winters she had in McAllen, Texas. She was an active member of Bethany E. & R. Church, the church guild, and the Grace Circle. She was also a member of the Neighborhood Club and the Senior Citizens. In July, 2010, Alice became a resident of Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong. She died there on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at the age of 97.

She is survived by five children, Delmar (Janet) of Eagle Grove, Maurice (Austinette) of Arnolds Park, Jean Sharpe of Birmingham, Ala., Wallace (Char) of Princeton, Minn., and Faye (Robert) Boland of Swea City; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Kristi Kramersmeier; Julie Kramersmeier and son Jonah; Kristine (Joel) Zeller and children Jes and Macy; Sandra (John) McGrath and children Billy, Lashelle, Garrett, Ariel, Andrea and Mollie; Sheila (Darryl) Cochran and children Mickey, Brooke, and Logan; Troy (Shanyn) Kramersmeier and children Cole, Nicholas, and Kennedy; Lisa Looft and children John, James, and Tara; Scott Sidles and children Austin and Heather; Brenda (Dale) Ascheman and daughter Anna; Lori Runksmeier and daughter Casie; Kent (Michelle) Runksmeier, Todd (Dawn) Runksmeier and children Megan and Wyatt; Hank (Corinna Ross) Runksmeier and children River, Isaac, Brandon, and Janice; Andrew Sharpe; Sarah Wade; Annette Cummings; Susanna Biederman; Joel Kramersmeier and son William, Jason (Renata) Kramersmeier and children Krystin and Cheyenne; Scott Wallin and son Joshua; Todd (Becky) Wallin and children Jacob and Joseph; Barry (Teri) Boland and children Clay, Jerami, Cheyanne, Autumn, and Kegan; and Bucky Boland. She is also survived by one sister, Marjorie (Earl) Carpenter of Norwalk, Conn.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John on Sept. 15, 1986; two brothers, Joseph and Victor Weaver; and one sister, Viola Anderson; daughter-in-law Mary Kramersmeier; sons-in-law Arden Runksmeier, Victor Colway and Jerry Sharpe.
