To the Editor:
I would just like to say what I think about the Fairmont Area School referendum. I think what the school board is doing is unbelievable.
Extracurricular classes, sports and music classes make school fun. There are so many activities that deal with these classes. Friends and family love going to the sports home games. People go there to cheer for the Fairmont Cardinals, hang out with friends and listen to the Fairmont marching band. What would it be like with none of these?
The school board says they care about our future. Well, I am thinking not because my future is about music and if this referendum doesn't pass, then there is no future here for me. Fairmont Schools says it is a great day to be a Cardinal. Well, if this referendum doesn't pass, it will never be a great day to be a Cardinal.
I care about my friends, my future and even my hometown's future of staying alive. Some teachers I know very well will be leaving because they won't have a job. Students care about extracurricular classes, sports and music classes. I have heard a lot of students saying they are transferring schools, even moving to a different city. Before you know it, Fairmont won't be here anymore, because no one will be left.
I am in band, jazz band, FHS Coalition and the pit of the musical "West Side Story." I care about telling others to vote yes. Will you vote yes for the town's sake?
