Preserve life lessons

November 2, 2012

To the Editor:

So many life lessons can be taught through parables of extracurricular events. Teamwork, adversity, concentration, dealing with losing and how to be humble when succeeding. Knowledge Bowl, theatre, orchestra, band and sports all build character. Employers want well-rounded, active kids who have been involved with extracurricular events that teach life skills and teamwork are equally important as grade-point average.

You may not like or agree with everything that the administration has done or the way this referendum was presented. But don't punish the kids by eliminating activities by voting no for this referendum. Take pride and support the vitality and strength in our community in which education plays a huge role. Vote "yes" for the school referendum.
