To the Editor:
We want to commend and thank the Fairmont Area School Board members for going out into our communities to address the questions and comments of district residents concerning the learning levy. They have clearly outlined the consequences of a failed levy. These are just a few of the most serious:
1. Increased class size means less one-on-one time between teacher and students.
2. Elimination of electives means fewer options and opportunities for enhanced learning.
3. Music, fine arts and athletics are important in developing our students as future leaders.
We know sacrifices have to be made if the levy is to pass. But the generations who came before made sacrifices for us. We need to do what we can for the future generations. We encourage you to vote yes for kids on Nov. 6.
