William ‘Bill’ Green

ARMSTRONG, Iowa - Services for William "Bill" Green, 70, of Armstrong will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Armstrong, with Father Dan Guenther, celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Armstrong, with military graveside rites by Armstrong Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Post.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel, Armstrong.

William Thomas Green, the son of Theodore and Dallas (Trenary) Green, was born September 2, 1942, in Buffalo Center, Iowa. He passed away Friday, October 26, 2012, at his home in Armstrong, Iowa, at the age of 70.

Bill graduated from Ledyard High School in 1960. Then he attended Omaha Business College after the death of his father. In 1962, he joined the United States Navy and was stationed aboard the USS Collett as a PO2. He was honorably discharged in 1965. Following his discharge Bill attended Iowa State University and graduated from Bellevue with an Accounting Degree in 1970.

Bill married Arlis Dreismeier on April 8, 1967, in Crofton, Nebraska. After their marriage, he worked for RD Transfer and ConAgra in Omaha, Nebraska, before moving to Armstrong in 1976. He worked for Arts-Way as Vice President of Finance and CEO. He retired in 2002. In his leisure time he enjoyed attending Polka fests, golfing, playing slow pitch softball and singing karaoke. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. One of his most memorable times was the family vacation at Disney World in Florida.

Bill was a member St. Mary's Catholic Church in Armstrong and VFW Post 5232, serving as President for many years. He was also a member of the Armstrong-Ringsted School Board for 9 years; the Little League Officer and coach, served on the Armstrong Planning and Zoning Committee and a member and officer of the ABC Club.

Left to cherish Bill's memory are his wife, Arlis of Armstrong; his children, Brian Green and special friend Dawn Spoo; Jodi (Dale) Green; Jason Green; grandchildren, Megan Green; Katie Green; Brandon Moore, Kyle Moore; sister, LaVaun (John) Rosenberg; brother, Roger (Pat) Green; brothers-in-law, Paul (Darlene) Dreismeier; Mark (Sheila) Dreismeier; sisters-in-law, Kathy Brodersen; Alice (Ron) Ferrell; Cleone (Leland) Timmerman; Marilyn (Gary) Kleinschmit and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Bill in death were his parents, Theodore and Dallas; his father-in-law and mother-in-law and brother-in-law, Kenny Brodersen.
