‘StoryWalk’ removed

October 10, 2012
Fairmont Sentinel

To the Editor:

If you walked at Heritage Acres this summer or fall, chances are you saw the "StoryWalk" project alongside the path. This cooperative effort between the Martin County Library and the city of Fairmont was an effort to brighten a city park and engage our community in literacy in an exciting manner.

The first story survived months of rain, sun and wind and held up quite well. Due to the popularity and positive feedback from our community, we recently put up a new story. Unfortunately, due to vandalism, I made the decision to remove our "StoryWalk" book. The damage was too extensive and the pages came down this week.

I hope those of you who had the opportunity to read, share or interact with the "StoryWalk" were enriched by the experience. Thank you for your continued support.

Jenny Trushenski
