To the Editor:
I am writing this in defense of former Blue Earth Area Schools bus driver Jane Brooks, who is facing a fifth-degree assault charge for allegedly slapping a 6-year-old boy on her bus.
After all the things she tried to do and no one from the school would respond. Why weren't the police called to help her? The boy's conduct was almost competely out of control.
If he does this in school and at home, the parents are not being able to get him corrected.
I feel Brooks had a right to swat him, I presume, on his back side.
I did that with my children a few times with only one swat and a good explanation why that behavior is uncalled for.
I am an 83-year-old grandmother. I was born and raised in Fairmont. I was Mary Newville.
