B.E. Area netters nip Eagles, 6-1

BLUE EARTH - The Blue Earth Area Bucs tennis team was one match away from a sweep in its 6-1 victory over the Maple River Eagles on Saturday in Mapleton.

Karleigh Wolff led the Bucs singles bracket sweep with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at the No. 1 singles position over the Eagles' Samantha Brammert.

Lindsey Prokop kept the singles victories coming for the Bucs with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Erin Hislop at second singles.

Kaitlyn Olsen stole the first-set 7-5 win over Hannah Proehl at fourth singles before winning six straight to take the second set 6-0.

Annika Wilhelmi cruised through her first set at third singles to win 6-1 over Megan Langworthy.

Langworthy, the Eagles No. 3 singles player, came back to win the second set 6-2, before Wilhelmi was able to take the 6-0 third set to win the match.

Karli Olsen and Natali Fellows teamed up up for a 6-3, 6-1 win at the No. 1 doubles spot in the Bucs line-up, downing Sam Beto and Rachel Rigclon in straight sets.

BEA's third doubles pair of Aeli Olson and Paige Darrington secured the final Bucs victory with a 6-1, 7-5 second doubles win over Brittany Groskreutz and Alissa Broskreutz.

The Eagles claimed their lone match victory at third doubles, with Cassie Barkosky and Emily Spear defeating Beka Krussow and Adrien Whittlieff 6-4, 6-3.

Blue Earth Area (10-3, 3-1 South Central Conference) travels for a 4:30 p.m. South Central Conference match on Tuesday against Waseca.
