Fairmont spikers zip Waseca

WASECA - The Fairmont Cardinals volleyball team dealt the Waseca Bluejays a 25-23, 25-17, 25-21 South Central Conference loss on Thursday night in Waseca.

Paige Bearson led the Cardinals in the three-game sweep with 10 kills, 21 digs and connected on a perfect 18-for-18 at the service line with four aces.

Kristen Campe delivered a perfect night at the service line as well, going 12-for-12 with two aces for Fairmont.

Kayla Lardy and Emily Kim each dispensed nine kills in the win, with teammate Emily Kim doling out 15 set assists and recording 16 digs in the match.

Tori Edgington also tallied 16 digs for Fairmont, while Elizabeth Kim distributed a team-best 21 set assists in the match.

Fairmont (5-4, 3-0 SCC) hosts Blue Earth Area at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night at Cardinal Gym.

Waseca downed the Cardinals, 25-21, 27-25, in B-squad volleyball action on Thursday in Waseca.

Aly Eversman went 8-for-8 serving with eight digs in the match. Morgan Seifried went 9-for-9 serving with one ace to complement seven set assists for the Cardinals, while Courney Mosloski contributed six kills.

Fairmont outlasted Waseca, 25-13, 10-25, 15-11, in C-squad volleyball action in Waseca on Thursday.

Payton Walser went 16-17 from the service line, while Alyssa Westcott distributed seven set assits. Brice Bonin dispensed seven attacks in the match.

Blue Earth Area 3, New Ulm 0 - The Bucs clipped the Eagles, 25-10, 26-24, 25-23, in a South Central Conference match on Thursday night in Blue Earth.

Janessa Jahnke led the offensive attack for BEA with 13 kills. Jahnke also registered 12 digs and two ace blocks in the win.

Krista Hassing also tallied 12 digs, had four ace blocks and pounded nine kills for the Bucs.

Monica Krieger doled out 25 set assists and went 15-for-16 at the service line with one ace.

Whitney Pirsig recorded one ace block and went 14-for-16 serving with four aces in the match for the Bucs.

Blue Earth Area (8-2, 3-0 SCC) travels to Fairmont for a 7:30 p.m. match Tuesday.

Martin County West 3, Madelia 2 - The Mavericks outlasted the Blackhawks, 25-18, 26-28, 27-29, 25-23, 15-8, in a Valley Conference match on Thursday in Trimont.

Libbie Lange was explosive for the Mavericks, dispensing 12 kills and making five blocks in the win.

Kate Thiesse contributed 10 kills and 12 digs for MCW, while Morgan Williamson also made 12 digs and distributed 17 set assists.

Molly Klima made a team-best 20 digs for the defense, while Jackie Schliesmann contributed 12 digs and Autumn Smith added 10.

Taryn Tumbleson smoked eight kills and recorded four aces, while Hailey Leiding had six kills in the match.

Kennedy Janssen scattered 10 set assists and Jordan Gregory tallied four kills in the win.

Martin County West (8-1) travels to play in the Jackson County Central Tournament on Saturday.

Martin Luther/Gran-ada-Huntley-East Chain 3, Truman 0 - The Knights delivered a 25-14, 29-27, 25-18 Valley Conference loss to the Bluejays on Thursday night in Northrop.

Amanda Cegelske had a team-best nine kills and two blocks to pace the home team to 'Dig Pink' victory.

Amber Schulz added six kills and made 12 digs for the Knights, while Effie Bentz tallied 19 digs.

ML/GHEC's Catie Sherman registered eight digs and recorded five aces in the win.

Savannah Stevens and Emily Zaharia each dispensed seven kills to lead Truman. Stevens added four aces and eight digs, while Zaharia recorded seven digs and three blocks.

Hanna Hartman and Alexis Jahnz each dispensed three kills, while Hartman also added two ace serves, six digs and one block and Jahnz recorded an ace serve.

Sam Hartwig distributed 14 set assists and three ace serves for Truman.

Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain (3-7) hosts Martin County West on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in Northrop.

Truman (1-7, 0-3 Valley) travels to Cleveland for a 7:30 p.m. conference match Tuesday.
