To the Editor:
A comment on the Marriage Protection Amendment.
Most of us know a homosexual person, or even have some relative who is homosexual. Every one of them that I have come to know are good, upstanding citizens who have talents and abilities that are good for their communities and for society as a whole.
Just like any other person, they deserve our respect as a person and their dignity must be preserved.
However, marriage is and always has been (except in a very few states where activist judges have declared it must also be opened to two people of any gender) between one man and one woman. It is the natural order of society for the good of the man and woman and for the good of any children born to that union. It has ben set up this way by God (see Gn. 1:26-27 or Gn. 2:21-24).
Let us preserve marriage as a union between one man and one woman with the constitutional amendment that will be on the November ballot in Minnesota. That way, some gay activist judge cannot decide different and change the law. It will have to come before the voters of the state to decide whether or not to change the law.
