FAIRMONT - Funeral Service for Hortense "Tenny" A. Pietsch, 90, of Fairmont, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at the United Methodist Church in Fairmont with interment in Lakeside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Monday, September 3, at the Lakeview Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Tenny passed away on Friday afternoon, August 31, 2012, at the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center.
Hortense Agnes Lee was born on July 26, 1922, in Wells, Minn. She was the daughter of Edward and Annie (Fawcett) Lee. She attended schools in Byron, Waseca and Redwood Falls before graduating from Winona High School in 1941.
On December 4, 1942, Tenny was united in marriage to Wilford "Bud" Pietsch at McKinley Methodist Church in Winona. The couple moved to Fairmont in 1945. As her family aged, Tenny worked at several restaurants before retiring from Woolworth's. Tenny and Bud were blessed with five children and shared over 69 years together.
Tenny was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church in Fairmont and was active with the United Methodist Women. She and Bud were charter members of W.H.O. Club at the church. She was also a 50-year member of Alanon. In her younger years, Tenny was active with the P.T.A. as well as a Girl Scout leader. In her free time she enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, BINGO, and playing cards. She most loved spending time with her family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Bud; children, Sue Pietsch of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., Joanne (Cliff) Eisenbarger of Granada, Minn., Mary Jo (Chuck) Maday of Fairmont, Minn., Nancy (Alan) Hagen of Ramsey, Minn., and Roger (Debbie) Pietsch of Cherokee, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; sister, Joan Wiczek of Winona, Minn.; half-brother, Edward Lee of Faribault, Minn; five nieces; three nephews; other relatives and friends.
Along with her parents, Edward and Annie Lee, Tenny was also preceded in death by her stepmother, Sibyl Hiley Lee; four sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; two great-grandchildren; one son-in-law; and one niece.
