To the Editor:
Attention, all gardeners: It's getting that time of year to start thinking about cleaning up the flower beds for fall. And if you have plants that need to be thinned out or divided, we would love to have your extras.
Martin County Humane Society will be holding its fall plant sale on Saturday, Sept. 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the animal shelter, located at 522 E. Margaret St. in Fairmont. Plant donations will be accepted Thursday and Friday evenings from 5-7 p.m. prior. We accept any perennials, bulbs, tubers, corms, etc. Please indicated variety and color of your donated plants.
In 2011, 653 animals came into the shelter, either as strays or surrenders. The monthly cost of housing and caring for these animals is enormous. Proceeds from our plant sales, rose sale, bake sales, scrapbooking, golf outing, rummage sale, animal walk, wine event and holiday event all go toward the animals. We greatly appreciate any and all cash donations we receive, but the Humane Society needs to do its share also and we do that by holding fund-raisers. We are a busy group of volunteers.
Any questions or need of information can be directed to me at (507) 235-5994 or email@example.com. Thank you for your support.
