FAIRMONT - The Fairmont 16U girls softball team finished its season with a third-place finish in the Junior Olympic Amateur Softball Association/Minnesota Metro Fastpich League 16D State Tournament on July 28-29 in Monticello.
After winning three games on Saturday, Fairmont was one win away from the championship, but lost to Moorhead and Pequot Lakes to finish third.
Alyson Eversman collected two hits, including a double, with one RBI and one run scored to lead Fairmont in its 4-3 Game 1 victory over Fergus Falls.
Taylor Nuss and Peyton Oleson each collected one RBI on one hit and scored a run to aid Fairmont's efforts.
Amanda Schuder added an RBI and one hit, while Allison Moeller had one hit and a run scored. Mikayla Krzywicki and Samm Rosenberg each had one hit in the win.
Oleson pitched five innings, allowing three runs on six hits and striking out six to earn the first tournament win.
In Game 2, Oleson pitched six innings of one-hit softball to guide Fairmont to a 4-3 victory over host Monticello.

Payton Walser had two hits, including a double, with two runs scored and an RBi to pace Fairmont at the plate. Amber Schulz added two singles and an RBI for Fairmont.
Tieryn Arens had one hit and a run scored, while Abby Fitzgerald recorded one hit.
Rosenberg collected an RBI and Nuss scored a run in the victory.
Fairmont had an offensive explosion in the 7-4 Game 3 victory over Maple Lake.
Moeller led the hit parade with two, including a double, and collected two RBIs. Eversman also had two hits and collected an RBI in the win.
Micaela Gochanour had a hit and scored two runs, while collecting an RBI for Fairmont.
Walser and Schulz each had a hit, a run scored and collected one RBI.
Oleson - who pitched the full seven innings, allowing four runs on nine hits and striking out three - also had a hit and collected an RBI at the plate.
Courtney Mosloski and Krzywicki each had one hit, while Fitzgerald scored a run.
Day 2 at the tournament started out with Fairmont's first loss, with Moorhead posting a 6-1 victory.
Fitzgerald, Moeller, Schuder and Mosloski each had a hit, with Fitzgerald scoring the lone run on a walk.
Krzywicki pitched four innings, allowing four runs on four hits and walking two to take the loss.
Oleson pitched the final inning, allowing two runs on one hit and striking out one in relief.
Pequot Lakes defeated Fairmont 4-1 in its final game of the tournament.
Gochanour, who hit a double, scored the lone Fairmont run on an RBI single by Nuss.
Fitzgerald, Moeller, Walser and Schulz each added hits in the loss.

"This is the best performance my gals have had at state, since I've been a coach with the Fairmont Girls Fastpich Softball Association. We brought home some state hardware," said Fairmont coach Chuck Allen.
Fairmont finished its season 16-10 in league play.
