FAIRMONT - A Celebration of Life Service for Evelyn M. Wohlers, 87, of Fairmont, Minn., formerly of rural Trimont, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at Kramer Family Funeral Home Chapel in Trimont, Minn., with Rev. Wade Daul officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park in Fairmont, Minn.
Evelyn was called to her eternal rest on Thursday evening, July 19, 2012, at her home in Fairmont, Minn. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont and one hour prior to the services. Evelyn Maxine Wohlenhaus was born October 12, 1924, to Dietrich and Josephine (Blaser) Wohlenhaus in Fox Lake Township, rural Martin County, Minn. She attended and later was a 1942 graduate of Triumph-Monterey High School. She attended and later graduated from Mankato Teachers College. Evelyn taught school in District #110 in Cedar Township. On January 2, 1946, she was united in marriage to Herman Wohlers at Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont, Minn. After their marriage, they farmed in Waverly Township until 1982, when they retired and moved into Fairmont. Herman died on February 14, 1998. Evelyn was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont, where she held offices in LWML, and taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years. Since retirement, she had been a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont. She and her husband traveled to Arizona many times to visit their daughter and family. They also took an extended trip to Australia, New Zealand and Hawaii.
Survivors include her two sons, David Wohlers of Northrop, Minn., and Daniel Wohlers and his wife, Wendy, of rural Trimont; son-in-law, Steve Eady of Safford, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Aaron "Bus" Wohlenhaus of Butterfield, Minn.; brother-in-law, Edwin Wohlers of Sonoma, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Marcella Ambrose of Jackson, Minn., and Fern Peck of Spencer, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives. Also survived by special friend Luella Waskosky of Fairmont and very special life-time friend, Nelda Bernhardt-Berry of Brooklyn Center, Minn.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman Wohlers; parents-in-law; daughter, Patty Eady; infant daughter, Wanda Lee Wohlers; granddaughter, Tasha Ann Wohlers; two brothers and three sisters and other relatives.
