FAIRMONT - The Fairmont American Legion Post 36 baseball team scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning to highlight an 8-2 victory over New Ulm Blue on Monday night in New Ulm.
Post 36 scored three runs in the first two innings to grab an early 3-0 lead.
New Ulm rallied in the sixth inning to score two runs, making it a one-run game going into the seventh.
Jon Ellis hit a two-run homer and scored two runs to lead Fairmont to the victory. Ryan Noll hit a double to collect three RBIs, while Bryce Holm had three hits, including an RBI double.
Ben Gratz had two hits and scored a run for Fairmont, while Tanner Nawrocki had one hit and scored two runs.
Fairmont's Andy Reiter pitched the complete game to earn the win, allowing two runs on five hits, walking four and striking out one.
Fairmont (9-8) plays New Ulm Gold at 8 p.m. Thursday night in New Ulm.
