BANCROFT, Iowa - A funeral mass for Rosella M. Laubenthal, 86, of Bancroft will be at St. John's Catholic Church, Bancroft, on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Bancroft. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4-7 p.m. at Oakcrest Funeral Services, Bancroft, with a Rosary prayer at 4 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Oakcrest Funeral Services of Bancroft is in charge of arrangements.
Rosella Mary Hellman Laubenthal was born December 7, 1925, in Bancroft, Iowa, daughter of John and Elizabeth (Scholtes) Hellman. She graduated from St. John's School in Bancroft.
On January 30, 1950, Rosella married James Harold Laubenthal in Bancroft. The couple farmed northwest of Bancroft for many years, moving to town in November, 1985. Rosella enjoyed her organ, piano and accordions. She also made quilts and enjoyed her flowers and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church.
Rosella died at the Algona Manor Care Center on Thursday afternoon, June 28, 2012, at the age of 86.
She is survived by her son Don and his wife Gloria of Bancroft; three grandsons, Mark and Hali Smith and their children, Victoria, Devon and Mason; Kevin and his wife Megan and their children, Haylee and Owen; and Tony and his wife Ashley and their children Hadyn, Ava and Gavin, all of Bancroft. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Anna Mae Kacmarynski of Emmetsburg and Margaret Laubenthal of Bancroft and one brother-in-law Paul Inman of Bancroft as well as many nieces and nephews.
Rosella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband James in March 2006; a daughter Debbie in 1976; two brothers Alfred and Raymond; one sister Dorothy; and one grandchild.
