FAIRMONT - Funeral service for Adelia H. Ehlert, 93, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 30, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church-Wilbert, rural Ceylon. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, June 29, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Adelia passed away Wednesday evening, June 27, 2012, at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems-Fairmont.
Adelia Hatty (Rosen) Ehlert was born Aug. 3, 1918, in Corliss Township, near Perham, Minn., the daughter of Carl and Hulda (Steuber) Rosen. She graduated from school in Corliss Township and was confirmed in St. John's Lutheran Church in Corliss Township on June 5, 1932. She moved with her parents to Rutland Township near Northrop, Minn., in 1936. They farmed in Rutland Township for two years then moved to a farm in Manyaska Township. Adelia was united in marriage to Alfred Ehlert on Feb. 9, 1941, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wilbert. Adelia and Alfred farmed in Tenhassen Township for many years. She also worked at Madsen's Cafeteria in Fairmont for 14 years. They retired from farming in 1981 and moved into Fairmont in 1996. In July of 2011, they moved into the Lutz Wing and Adelia watched over Alfred everyday until he passed away on Oct. 10, 2011.
Adelia was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wilbert and a member of their Ladies Aid. For many years, Adelia enjoyed hand quilting and painting.
She is survived by one son, Dwayne Ehlert and his wife, Jean, of rural Fairmont; two daughters, Jolene Billing of Crookston, Minn., and Ardel Prescott of Fairmont; six grandchildren, Chris Splinter, Lori Schock (Greg), David Ehlert (Sandra), Tammy Smith (Dean), Karla Sauck, Beth Rivera (Richard); granddaughter-in-law, Mischele Billing; 11 great grandchildren, Brandon, Emily, Garrett, Megan, Austin, Mariah, Taylor, Kaylee, Jenna, Alex and Rianna; sister, Lucile Becker of Fairmont; sister-in-law, Joan Rosen of Sherburn; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Adelia was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Gary Prescott and Eugene Billing; grandson, Darin Billing; sister, brother, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Melinda (Brasel) Huwe, Herb Huwe, George Brasel, Adolph and Laura Rosen, Oscar Rosen, Wilbert Becker, Arthur Ehlert, Ernest and Betty Jane Ehlert, Edna and Otto Beckendorf, Alma and William Schultze, Emily and Adolph Eckmann, Clara and LeRoy Hartung, Velma and Calvin Boesch.
