BANCROFT - The North Union Warriors baseball team scored three runs in the fifth and sixth innings to secure a 9-4 Cornbelt Conference victory over Harris-Lake Park on Monday at Bancroft Memorial Park.
Brett Deitering went 2-for-2 and collected three RBIs to pace the Warrior offense.
North Union was looking to add to a 2-1 lead in the third inning when Jake Adams stepped up and delivered a lead-off double. Brett Deitering sent the ball to left field for a base hit, moving Adams to third.
North Union's Evan Hagebock hit a grounder to the shortstop for an out, but Adams scored on the fielder's choice to give the Warriors a 3-1 lead.
With two out and the bases loaded for North Union in the bottom of the fifth inning, Hagebock had the opportunity to add to the 4-1 Warrior lead. He drove the ball deep to right field to score Brandon Kollasch from third base and Adams from second base.
Garret Johnson started another North Union rally in the bottom of the seventh inning with a base hit. Cody Runksmeier was hit by a pitch to reach first, advancing Johnson to second base.
Both runners advanced into scoring postion on Alex Deitering's fielder's choice.
Johnson scored another run for the Warriors on Adam's single to left field, while Kollasch and Runksmeier moved to second and third base.
Brett Deitering hit a single to left field scoring Runksmeier and Kollasch to secure the 9-4 win.
Johnson pitched five innings for North Union to earn the win, striking out six and allowing three runs on two hits.
Zack Hurlburt came in for the final two innings, allowing one run on three hits and earning one strikeout.
North Union (20-6) travels to Algona for a 5:30 p.m. game on Thursday.
