ESTHERVILLE, Iowa - Services for Lola Swanson, 93, of Estherville will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2012, at Estherville Lutheran Church, with Pastor David Christenson officiating. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery, Estherville.
Visitation will be 4:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel, Estherville.
Lola (Ridler) Swanson the daughter of Ray and Frieda (Gleim) Ridler was born December 17, 1918, in Nemaha, Iowa. She died on Monday, June 18, 2012, at Rosewood Manor in Estherville, Iowa, at the age of 93.
She received her education in the Anderson country school and later graduated from Estherville High School in 1937.
On Feb. 21, 1940, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Swanson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Following their marriage, the couple farmed near Dolliver, Iowa, for many years. In 1977, Kenneth and Lola moved into Estherville. The couple retired from farming in 1984. Kenneth passed away Nov. 22, 1991. Throughout her lifetime, Lola enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking thousands of meals for her family and friends. She also enjoyed playing cards and keeping her home tidy and clean.
She was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church; Estherville Lutheran Women; Midway Country Club and past member of Estherville Township Farm Bureau Women.
Left to cherish Lola's memory are her daughters, Colleen Miller; Rhonda Bonk and her husband, Mike; four grandchildren, Kenin Miller and his wife, Nicole; Matt Miller and his wife, Heather; Christina Haycraft and her husband, Jerome; Philip Mooney; nine great-grandchildren, Rylee Miller; Blake Miller; Cael Miller; Eric DeVos; Karver Miller; Tate Miller; Delainee Miller; Jameson Haycraft; and Charles Haycraft.
She has been preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons-in-law, Doug Mooney and Don Miller.
