North Union baseball sweeps CBC twinbill

BANCROFT, Iowa - The North Union Warriors swept both ends of a Corn Belt Conference baseball doubleheader with the Corwith-Wesley-Luverne Panthers on Friday night in Bancroft, Iowa.

Zach Ditsworth fired a five-hit complete-game to help engineer the Warriors' opening 12-2, five-inning triumph.

Zack Hurlburt then hurled a two-hit complete-game gem to pace North Union's 10-0, five-frame shutout of CWL during Game 2 of the twinbill.

Hurlburt demonstrated outstanding control by recording eight strikeouts without issuing a walk in going the distance on the mound to earn the victory.

Garrett Johnson and Evan Hagebock each went 2-for-2 to top the Warriors' eight-hit performance in Game 2. Johnson doubled, drove in three runs and scored twice, while Hagebock collected two RBIs.

In Game 1, Ditsworth allowed two runs on five hits, struck out eight and issued four walks in five frames to earn the complete-game victory.

Brett Deitering sparked the Warriors' nine-hit offensive outburst by going 2-for-2 with a double and a triple. Deitering also produced three RBIs and crossed the plate three times.

Jake Adams went 2-for-2 with a double for North Union, while Hurlburt and Sawyer Doocy each drove in two runs. Doocy doubled and scored two runs.

North Union plays host to Mason City Newman today in Bancroft, Iowa.
