To the Editor:
I wanted to take a moment to publicly thank Congressman Tim Walz and his staff for their help recently with a family member.
Not long ago, my brother, a bachelor and a veteran, was seeking a disability pension from Social Security so he could move into assisted living. The Veterans Administration already had declared him disabled and, after five months of waiting, we decided it was time to get our elected officials involved.
The first office I called was Congressman Walz's office in Rochester. After listening to our story, they went immediately to the phones. Within four hours, his office had broken the logjam at Social Security and the application was back on track. Not only did Congressman Walz's office get the process moving again, but they have followed up regularly to make sure everything is moving forward.
Congressman Walz has always promised to stand up for veterans, and he backed it up in spades. I am proud to have a man like Tim Walz representing us, as well as advocating for us, in Washington. I urge everyone to send him back there this year to continue the good work.
