Daffodils are finally here

March 9, 2012
Fairmont Sentinel

To the Editor:

Spring has come and it is time for everyone to pick up daffodils. This is the 32nd year that Martin County has offered daffodils for sale to help in the American Cancer Society's effort to fight cancer.

Five area towns will be involved with flower sales from March 12-16. This is the perfect gift to brighten up someone's day. Also, maybe even brighten up a cancer patient's day.

Fairmont daffodil headquarters will be at the Dollar Tree located at Five Lakes Centre, with other selling locations being Fareway and Hy-Vee. A bunch of 10 daffodils sells for $10, a potted Dainty Daffodil for $15 (limited supply available), a Bear and a Bunch for $25 (limited supply available), and a "Gift of Hope" bouquet can be delivered anonymously to a local cancer patient for $25. Donations for the flowers will support cancer research; programs for cancer patients and their families; education; early detection; and advocacy.

Join us for another blooming Daffodil Days event, a reminder that cancer is survivable and that support from people like you will bring hope and new life to many. For more information, or if you would like to help out, please contact Sue at (507) 235-9423 or Callie at (507) 399-1647.
