Help boost school system

January 5, 2012
Fairmont Sentinel

To the Editor:

You are invited to a Parents and Educators Teaming Together meeting 5:30 p.m. Monday at Fairmont Elementary School, 714 Victoria St., in the William Budd Room (enter through the main door No. 1).

The first meeting held on Nov. 7 established the interest from the community. Now we are moving forward establishing the PETT group and welcome community support. Volunteer opportunities have been identified in the school system, sub-committees are being formed and we are looking for more group members.

Parents, teachers and concerned community members are invited to come to this meeting and encouraged to get involved. We had more than 30 at our last meeting. A great school system has active, involved teachers, parents and community members. If you are looking to volunteer in 2012, this is a great opportunity for you to make a difference in a child's life. Our goal is helping educators, parents, caring community members and students to connect one volunteer at a time.

We will have childcare available, with suggested donations of $2 per child or $5 per family.

For more information, contact Steph Johnson at (507) 238-1441 or check out our group on Facebook: Fairmont Elementary Parents and Educators Teaming Together.
