Another request for televised Martin County commissioner meetings.
Televised meetings have been requested previously (Sentinel: Oberhelman, Feb. 7, 2008; Dickinson, Nov. 17, 2009). These requests have been completely ignored.
The taxpayers of Martin County are entitled to accountability concerning the conduct of meetings and the use of tax dollars. How spending issues originate and how commissioners vote are important.
Commissioner meetings are normally held during daytime work hours, but could be held evenings. This would allow most working people to attend. The semi-monthly meetings should nonetheless be televised locally, as the city council meetings are televised.
