NSK's Ingalls, Slagle tabbed CBC's best

Charlie Sorrells, Sentinel sports editor
POSTED: July 29, 2010

SWEA CITY - Art Ingalls and Chad Slagle reached milestones during the 2010 Iowa summer diamond campaigns.

Ingalls engineered North Sentral Kossuth's first-ever trip to the Class 1A state softball tournament, while Slagle cleared the 300-victory career mark at the helm of the Eagles' baseball program.

Slagle and Ingalls also guided their respective blue-and-gold clad diamond gems to top 10 showings in the state rankings throughout the season.

Ingalls and the high-octane North Sentral Kossuth softball lineup closed out its record-setting schedule with an incredible 33-7 record on the heels of a sixth-place showing at the state tournament in Fort Dodge, Iowa, earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Slagle and the hard-hitting Eagles baseball team produced an impressive 32-8 overall record and an appearance in the Iowa Class 1A, District 3, Substate 2 championship game.

Both North Sentral Kossuth head coaches captured yet another set of Corn Belt Conference championships en route to being named as the league coaches of the year.

Five of Ingalls' potent squad - senior shortstop Rebekah Rolling, junior designated hitter Kirsten Adams, junior outfielder Abby Ingalls, freshman pitcher Allie Ingalls and freshman third baseman Collete Haag - were selected to the all-CBC's first team, while teammates Cheyanne Boland, Tori Johnson, Genna Valvick and Amber Goraczkowski were tabbed as second-teamers.

Armstrong-Ringsted mentor Hilary Menke's senior catcher Megan Sanders received a spot on the all-CBC first softball team, while senior shortstop Bri Gonzales, freshman infielder Jasmine Clausen and eighth-grade third baseman Dena Looft represented the Mustangs on the second team.

Across the diamond in Bancroft, Iowa, Slagle's run-scoring lineup pocketed six first-team choices - Jake Larson, Brett Beadle, Brock Beadle, Jordan Ricke, Blake Pedersen and Travis Larson.

Armstrong-Ringsted head coach Ryan Luedtke's team merited three spots on the first team in Spencer Clausen, Tyler Tonderum and Brett Thackery.

North Sentral Kossuth's Drew Doocy, Tony Christ, Skyler Mino and Derek Spencer joined Armstrong-Ringsted's Craig Tigges and Ethan Eisenbacher on the all-CBC second baseball team.
