Marlys WeinmanFAIRMONT - At 75, the spirit and soul belonging to Marlys Lorraine Sansen Weinman of Fairmont ascended into Heaven on March 6, 2010. Those who knew her were blessed to witness her compassion, enjoy her clever wit, and wonder at her fine-tuned sense of the absurd. A gifted artist and writer, Mar shared her talents with a diverse circle of friends and peers.

Nana Mar was born to Carl and Vallie Erickson Sansen. Raised in southern Minnesota, she graduated from Fairmont High School in 1953 and from Augustana College in 1983. Mar is predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Charles Arthur Weinman, her parents, and brother Millard Sansen. She is survived by three daughters, and three siblings: Roger (Shirley) Sansen of Colorado Springs, Colo., Sharon (David) Rupp of Salida, Colo., and Shirley Krahmer of Truman Minn. Two special friends also survive her: Joyce Sexton and Vincent Style.

She raised her family in Luverne, Minn., where she was proprietress of a ceramics studio, a pottery studio and an antique shop. Working alongside her husband, she sold real estate as well.

She served the Luverne community for many years, participating behind the scenes in the Green Earth Players. Mar loved to socialize with her girlfriends, playing golf and bridge, though she found her greatest joy in her family. Her children are Kate (Jon) Fisher of Mountain Home, N.C., Melissa (Jeffrey) Jagosh of Ruston, Wash., and Kirstin (David) Jacques of Maple Plain, Minn. Grandchildren are Alex (Kelley) Swann and Garnet Fisher, Lela and Arabella Jagosh, Madeline Franz and Grace Jacques.

Nana's memorial service will be at 1 p.m., on Tuesday, March 9th, 2010, at the United Methodist Church, 119 E 2nd St., in Fairmont. (507)235-5579
