TRUMAN - Truman forward Chelsey Lieffring made a pressure-packed free throw with 1.3 seconds left in regulation to force overtime on Tuesday night.

Lieffring produced the first basket of the four-minute extra session before Shelby Wiederhoeft and Bailey Wendt exchanged scorer-passer roles to cap the Bluejays' 46-42 victory over the Martin County West Mavericks in Truman.

Wiederhoeft finished with a game-best double-double of 20 points and 16 rebounds, including two clutch putback baskets during the final 1:38 of the Valley Conference Show-case clash's second half.

"Wow, those were 20 quiet points," Truman head coach Pete Goeringer said in reference to his center's point total, which consisted of 10 of his team's 19 made free throws.

The Bluejays capitalized on a 24-12 second-half rebounding edge, a 29-to-7 edge in free throw attempts on the game and a late technical foul assessed to a Maverick player to pull off the comeback.

Alyssa Taylor and Madison Bloomquist helped Martin County West erase a one-point halftime deficit before Kelsey Williams' layup off Taylor's assist against Truman's pressure staked the Mavericks to a nine-point lead with 9:55 remaining in regulation.

Wiederhoeft, Jordan Feis and Lieffring, however, slowly worked the lane to whittle Truman's deficit to 36-32 before the technical foul occurred at the 2:43 juncture.

"That was definitely a turning point in the game, and we took advantage of the opportunity," said Goeringer.

Wendt and Wiederhoeft combined to hit 3 of 4 free throws before one possession later, Wiederhoeft's putback basket gave Truman its first lead of the game since intermission.

Taylor, who neared double-double territory with 12 points and nine rebounds, hit a long 2-pointer from the left wing to regain the lead for MCW, but Wiederhoeft answered with a follow basket with 57 seconds left.

Maggie Prunty's low-post lay-in off one of Williams' four assists swung a 40-39 margin to the Mavericks with only 6.9 seconds remaining before the Bluejays called timeout.

Lieffring drove the lane, drew the foul and hit the second free throw with 1.3 seconds left to force overtime.

Lieffring converted Wendt's pass into a driving lay-in to open the extra session before MCW's Alaina Helmstetter countered with a right-wing jumper.

Wiederhoeft lofted home a high-arching baseline jumper with 24 seconds left to give Truman a 44-42 lead before Wiederhoeft fired an inbound pass to a breaking Wendt for a game-ending layup.

Feis finished with nine points for the Bluejays, Wendt added three assists and four steals to her eight-point effort, Lieffring tallied seven points, while Becca Hintz made four steals.

Bloomquist tallied 10 points and four assists for the Mavericks, Prunty netted 10 points, while Alyssa Umbreit made three steals
