BLUE EARTH - A Winnebago man arrested for allegedly imprisoning a woman in his home made a court appearance Tuesday.

Just before 8 a.m. Saturday, Faribault County authorities received a call from Warren James Allen's neighbor about a woman being held against her will. Police used a sledge hammer to break in the door just before 9 a.m.

According to the court complaint:

Police entered Allen's residence at 224 4th Ave. Southeast and found the woman in Allen's living room. Officers arrested Allen, 65, without incident, while the woman was transported to United Hospital in Blue Earth.

The woman later told police Allen was arguing with her over unwashed dishes and that he pushed her against the stove and hit her on the left side of her head. She stated Allen also kicked her above the left knee. She said Allen doesn't let her go anywhere or use the bathroom by herself.

She said she thought about running away, but Allen told her he would kill her.

In court Tuesday, Allen was assigned a public defender. He is charged with four felonies - kidnapping, which carries a maximum penalty of four years in prison and $50,000 fine; terroristic threats for a maximum penalty of five years in prison and $10,000 fine; domestic assault with prior convictions, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and $10,000 fine; and false imprisonment, which carries a maximum penalty of three years prison and $5,000 fine.

Faribault County Judge Douglas Richards relayed release conditions for Allen, including no use of alcohol or mood-altering substance not prescribed by a physician; no contact with the alleged victim; and exclusion from any residence in which she resides.

Allen's bail was set at $200,000 without conditions, or $100,000 with release conditions.
