Millie was the daughter of PerLenius and Anna Person. She was born Dec. 21, 1921, on the family farm 3.5 miles west of Lone Rock, Iowa. When growing up, she helped her family with chores and odd jobs. She graduated from Lone Rock High School in 1939. Following that, she worked. One of the places she worked was Borchardt's Drug Store in Algona, Iowa. While working there, she met her husband, Milo "Mike" Bonebrake. When he returned from WWII, they married April 6, 1947. They moved to Winnebago in November 1949 and she lived there until 2007, at which time MIllie moved to Belmond to be closer to family. Millie was a woman who understood the value of hard work. During her time in Winnebago, she was a very active woman. Not only did she raise four children (Steve, Ronald, Carol, and Sue) and cared for her husband, she also worked and volunteered. Some of the places she worked include the Florence Horel, Dick's Cafe, Winnebago Hospital as a cook, Super Valu and, finally, Electro-Craft. She retired in 1986. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Legion Auxiliary, Food Pantry and various other duties.

However, Millie did much more than just work during her time here. She had many hobbies and past times. She loved to garden and preserve the produce where her amazing abilities in the kitchen flourished. Everyone raved about her pies! Many of her grandchildren will especially remember her rose bushes. She was an avid baseball fan of the Minnesota Twins and the Chicago Cubs. She made the most beautiful afghans, doilies and quilts. She also loved to spend time with her family. Their company meant more to her than anything on this Earth. Throughout her entire life journey, she was very proud of her Swedish heritage. Millie had a fiery personality and loving heart. She will truly be missed.

Millie is survived by her children: Steven (Gretchen) Bonebrake of Grimes, Iowa, Ronald (Dianne) Bonebrake of Kirtland, N.M., Sue (Roger) Asmus of Belmond, Iowa; 11 grandchildren: William Jr., Bryan, and Nicholas Griffith, Dawn (Trevor) Hansen, Brett, Garrett, and Bryce Bonebrake, Heidi and Katie Bonebrake, Crystle (Rusty) Steenblock, Elizabeth (Anthony) Ennis; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Millie was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 8, 1993; her parents; her daughter, Carol, in 1997; sister, Ruth Meyer; brothers, Arthur Person and Reinhold Person; and an infant great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Marie Steenblock.

Those wishing to express their sympathies through a memorial in Millie's name may wish to consider Hospice of Wright County, Lutheran Church of Our Savior, or their own choice.
