WINNEBAGO - Clarence Smith, age 100+, of Winnebago, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, at Parker Oaks in Winnebago. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at 11 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church in Winnebago. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Winnebago. Visitation will be on today, Nov. 17, 2009, from 3-6 p.m. at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home in Winnebago and continuing one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Clarence was born July 18, 1909, at Winnebago, the son of Clarence and Melissa (Parks) Smith. Clarence was raised and educated in Winnebago. He graduated from Winnebago High School in 1927. After graduation, he worked at the Winnebago Creamery. He served in the United States Navy during WWII before his discharge in 1946. He was united in marriage to Beatrice "Bea" Anderson on Nov. 11, 1946. The two farmed in rural Huntley. Clarence was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church in Winnebago and enjoyed gardening.
Clarence is survived by his son, Wayne (Joleta) Smith of Rochester; daughter, Eileen DiMarco of Genoa City; daughter, Margaret (Ron) Fosdick of Burlington; six grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers, Mark and Paul Smith; and one sister, Irene Smyth.
