Velma Boesch

FAIRMONT - Funeral services for Velma Boesch, 87, of Fairmont, will be Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont with burial following at Lakeside Cemetery. Visitation will be today, Oct. 23, from 5-8 p.m. at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont.

Velma passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at the Fairmont Medical Center.

Velma Anna Erna Emma (Ehlert) Boesch was born on April 17, 1922, in Fairmont, Minn., the daughter of Ernest J. And Alma (Gellert) Ehlert. As an infant, Velma was baptized and later confirmed into the Lutheran faith at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wilbert and also attended the St. Paul's Lutheran Parochial School in Wilbert.

On July 1, 1951, Velma was united in marriage to Calvin Glenn Boesch at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wilbert. Together the couple made their home in Fairmont and were blessed with six children. On July 27, 1980, Calvin passed away. In July of 2008, Velma moved to the Lakeview Methodist Healthcare Center in Fairmont.

Left to cherish her memory are her six children, Charmaine Gerndt and husband, Lindon of New London, Wis., Diane Day and husband, Pat of Spring Valley, Minn., Merle Boesch and wife, Eileen of Fairmont, Minn., Carol Moldenhauer and husband, Larry of Racine, Wis., Arlene Korth and husband, Dwight of New London, Wis., and (Mary) Beth Kitzerow and husband, Kevin of Fairmont, Minn.; 15 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alfred Ehlert and wife, Adelia of Fairmont, Minn., and Ernest Ehlert of Fairmont, Minn., a sister-in-law, Delores Pfeil and husband, Eldor of Truman, Minn., a brother-in-law, William Boesch of New Mexico; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Ernest and Alma Ehlert, Velma was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Boesch; four sisters, Edna Beckendorf, Alma Schultze, Clara Hartung and Emily Eckmann; a brother, Arthur Ehlert; six brothers-in-law, Otto Beckendorf, William Schultze, LeRoy Hartung, Aldoph Eckmann, Gerald Boesch and Dale Boesch; two sisters-in-law, Betty Jane Ehlert and Nancy Boesch; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Elmer and Lillian Boesch; and step mother-in-law and her husband, Lucia and Craig Colston.
