Delores J. Pittman
FAIRMONT - Funeral service for Delores J. Pittman, 83, of Fairmont will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at Shepherd of the Lakes Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont.
Delores passed away Tuesday morning, Oct. 13, 2009, at Fairmont Medical Center. Visitation with the family will be noon to 2 p.m. Friday at Shepherd of the Lakes Evangelical Lutheran Church. Lakeview Funeral Home of Fairmont is handling the arrangements for the family.
Delores Jean (Carpenter) Pittman was born on June 24, 1926, in Story City, Iowa, the daughter of Gaylord and Millie (Sydness) Carpenter. She graduated from Story City High School before moving on to business school in Des Moines. She was united in marriage to Jerry Pittman on Dec. 6, 1946, in Kansas City, Kan. They lived in Iowa before settling in Fairmont in 1970. While in Fairmont, Delores enjoyed working at Madsen's Cafeteria for 24 years. Jerry passed away on Aug. 20, 1991. She was a member of Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church, Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 Ladies Auxiliary and the Martin County VFW Post 1222 Ladies Auxiliary. Delores loved spending time with her family and friends and always had a kind word for everyone.
She is survived by three daughters, Pam Miller and her husband, Randy, of Truman, Debbie Hale and her husband, Harry, of Fairmont, Sheila Breitbarth and her husband, Craig, of Truman; grandchildren, Jason, Jeremy and Missy Charlet, Katie, Jared and Shane Breitbarth and Abby Hale; great grandchildren, Alexis and Alyssa Martinson, Morgan Styke, Savannah Charlet and Rylee Charlet, Cadence and Dane Breitbarth; one brother, Gary Carpenter and his wife, Jean, of Roland, Iowa; one sister, Joan Carpenter of Denver, Colo.; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gaylord and Millie Carpenter; and her husband, Jerry Pittman.
Memorials are preferred to the Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church, Martin County Humane Society or donor's choice.
