John J. Kuhn
FAIRMONT - A graveside service for John J. Kuhn, 62, of Fairmont, will be held 3 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2009, at Calvary Cemetery in Fairmont. Military honors will be provided by the Lee C. Prentice American Legion post 36 and Martin County VFW post 1222.
John passed away on Wednesday afternoon, June 10, 2009, at Fairmont Medical Center.
John Jerome Kuhn was born July 2, 1946, in Jackson, Minn. He was the son of John E. and Philimeane (Zahorsky) Kuhn. John grew up in Sherburn, Minn., and graduated from Sherburn High School.
On March 24, 1966, John enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. While stationed in Vietnam as a machine gunner with the 6th Marines, 2nd Marine Division, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. John received an honorable discharge on March 22, 1968.
After returning from active duty, John moved to Fairmont, Minn., where he was employed with Fairmont Foods. He retired in January 2009.
John enjoyed spending time with his nieces, nephews and cousins. His family was a very important part of John's life.
John is survived by his sister, Barbara Sampson and her husband, Edwin of Truman, Minn.; nieces, Jodi Geistfeld and her husband, Jonathan "Butch" of St. James, Minn., and Jaci Edgeworth and her husband, Scott of Vancouver, Canada; and great niece and nephew, Reilly and Wyatt Geistfeld of St. James.
Along with his parents, John E. and Philimeane Kuhn, John is preceded in death by several aunts and uncles.
